BEHIND THE BRAND

Nazly & Albert

( Their personal stories )

The heart of Nazz  Hair Products beats with the remarkable story of our founder, Nazly Carrizales. Born in 1977 in Sinaloa, Mexico, Nazly's journey is one of resilience, determination, and ultimately, the realization of a lifelong dream.

In 1992, at the tender age of 15, Nazly, her single mother, three brothers, and one sister, immigrated to the United States undocumented, seeking escape from a difficult and dysfunctional family life. Despite the immense challenges, Nazly graduated from San Pedro High School in 1996 and went on to complete a technical career in Cosmetology.

Driven by necessity, Nazly began working in sales at just 17, navigating the bustling alleys of downtown Los Angeles's Fashion District. In 1997, she joined Payless Shoe Store as a sales representative and key holder. Soon after graduating from cosmetology school, she juggled both jobs, working at a beauty salon in addition to Payless for three years, just to make ends meet.

Discovering a Passion and Building a Career

The year 2000 marked a pivotal moment when Nazly seized an opportunity to grow professionally, joining Johny B Hair Products. The company was expanding its reach into the Latin/Hispanic community, and Nazly's role allowed her to build meaningful relationships with stylists and makeup artists. This experience ignited a passion within her, prompting her to take advanced makeup courses to refine her skills and deepen her knowledge. It was then that she truly discovered her love for makeup artistry.

Life took another challenging turn at age 22 when Nazly entered a mentally abusive marriage that ended in divorce six years later, leaving her a single mother of two children. Those six years were tough, but Nazly refused to give up.

In 2004, a serendipitous invitation changed her trajectory once more. A stylist she had met during her sales job encouraged her to audition for a makeup artist position with a television network (Channel 22) that was launching a new show. Nazly auditioned and got the job – her dream job. Though her aspirations of becoming a journalist were hindered by her undocumented status, being a makeup artist in the entertainment business was the next best thing. She firmly believed in God's perfect timing, as doors opened one after another, leading her to a career she came to love and enjoy every single day.

This single audition blossomed into a decade-long career with PromoFilm, where she worked on popular shows such as "Jugar a Ganar," "Doce Corazones," and "Buena Fortuna." Her knack for networking led to frequent freelance opportunities with other Latin television stations like Univision, TV Azteca, and Canal 62, where she worked on shows like "El Show de Don Cheto" and "La Academia USA," and with various radio and television hosts, Mexican singers, and actresses.

A New Chapter: Love and Entrepreneurship

Good things often come in clusters, and in 2009, Nazly found love again, marrying the wonderful Albert Carrizales. Together, they welcomed another child, making her a proud mother of two boys and a girl. Life couldn't look brighter, and her hard work was now focused on building a better tomorrow for her growing family.

In 2014, after 20 years of invaluable experience in beauty industry sales, Nazly and Albert embarked on a new challenge: creating their very own company, which they named NAZZLY INC. For Nazly, the impossible had just become possible.

While her sales experience was vast, the intricacies of running an entire company were more than she anticipated. Her limited formal education meant she wasn't well-versed in every aspect of running a successful business. Undeterred, Nazly spent countless hours learning the ins and outs of accounting with QuickBooks, managing emails, handling inventory, coordinating sales promotions, overseeing warehouse operations, liaising with vendors, and developing product concepts and designs. Essentially, she took on every role, multitasking constantly. And yes, English is her second language, truly making her a triple threat in the competitive market.

Despite all the challenges, Nazly has truly embraced her personal and professional growth. The relationships she's built with customers have evolved into lifelong friendships, creating experiences she wouldn't trade for anything. She extends her heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported her through her incredible adventures and daring ideas :)

Meet Albert Carrizales, also known as “AC,” a driven entrepreneur and founder of Nazz Hair Products and Qvo Bona Fide Hair Products. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1978 and raised in Huntington Park, California, Albert is the only child of his single mother, Bertha Carrizales. Much like Nazly, Albert faced a challenging upbringing, learning early on the value of hard work in achieving his dreams.

After graduating high school in 1996, Albert pursued his passion for baseball at Compton College Park. Unfortunately, an injury cut his playing career short. Undeterred, he channeled his energy into coaching at an elementary school while attending college, dreaming of becoming a teacher and coach.

A Journey Through Business

Soon after, Albert was offered a job at Doublz, a new local restaurant. The chain quickly expanded, and so did Albert's career. He rose from cashier to shift leader, eventually becoming the general manager of eight locations. However, the 2008 economic crash significantly impacted businesses, and Albert found himself back in a single store as a manager due to major cutbacks.

To make ends meet, Albert took on a second job in sales at Johnny B Hair Care. He consistently put in maximum effort at both jobs, a dedication that quickly made him stand out. His hard work didn't go unnoticed. The owner of the restaurant chain presented him with an incredible opportunity: to own one of the restaurants. Albert was thrilled and worked even harder to operate the restaurant to the highest standards.

After a few years, he successfully made the restaurant self-sustaining, freeing up his time and sparking new ideas. Unable to sit still, he leveraged the restaurant's profits to finance his next venture: becoming a hair product distributor. With his extensive experience in direct sales, he felt confident in tackling the task of distributing to beauty salons. This endeavor soon led him to patent his own product lines, culminating in what are now Nazz Hair Products and Qvo Bona Fide Hair Care.
